Validity of the use of the urinary diversion in endourology, a theoretical-practice disquisition

Abstract


 

To place an ureteral catheter after endourologic instrumentation was a gold standard at the beginning of Endourology. I was attributed  benefice such as facilitate the upper collector system drainage, fragment expulsion and to prevent the ureteral strictures, however the ureteral catheter aren´t exempt of associate morbidity. The won experience by endourologist propitiated a concept revaluations about ureteral catheter insertion post-instrumentation. Internationally is accepted what do not collocate ureteral catheter after endourologic instrumentations in well selected patients is safe, reduce the catheter morbidity associate and don´t increase complications.

Key words: ureteroscopy, PNL tubeless, PNL total tubeless, lumboscopic ureterolototomy, laparoscopic ureterolitotomy, ureteral catheter.
