Abstract

Schwannoma is a tumor that arises from Schwann cells in nerve sheaths. The aim of this article is to describe the clinical and pathological characteristics of this case and compare it with the literature reviewed on the subject. It is presented the case of a male patient, 47 years old, in a study due to clinic voiding. After discarding lesion in the bladder and urinary tract, a renal ultrasound is performed in which a left mass is detected in the upper pole that behaves as solid and raises the differential diagnosis between the malignant neoformative process and the complicated sinus cyst. The imaging study is expanded, which does not provide new information, and a partial nephrectomy is performed. Macroscopically, it is a nodular lesion of 3.8 cm and yellowish surface. Microscopically, it shows a fusocellular proliferation that alternates hyper and hypocellular areas, with positive staining for S-100. The final diagnosis was benign primary renal schwannoma.
