Intravesical migration of hem-o-lok after laparoscopic radical prostatectomy

Laparoscopic radical prostatectomy (PRL) uses hem-o-lok (HL), which are polymer clips for hemostatic control that have shown safety and efficacy. However, these can migrate from the site where they are placed to other locations. The objective of the article is to comment on the clinical presentation, diagnosis and treatment of a patient who presented the intravesical migration of HL-type clips after a PRL. A 55-year-old patient who came to the consultation for burning and voiding difficulty eight months after a PRL was performed is presented. Ultrasonography and simple abdomino-pelvic computed tomography suspected the presence of bladder lithiasis. However, panendoscopy confirmed the diagnosis of intravesical HL clips and allowed their removal. In conclusion, imaging studies are insufficient to detect intravesical migration of hem-o-lok clips and are often confused with bladder lithiasis. Panendoscopy is the diagnostic and therapeutic method of choice in this type of case.
